WOW...      WHAT A PARTY!

I have been hearing how much everyone enjoyed the event.  I thank you for all of your good wishes and all of your thank yous.  The committee really knows how to throw a party.  For those of you who missed it, we had a full weekend of activities.

On Friday, some of our usual characters, played golf on a course arranged by Bob Jardin.  I hear they had a lot of fun and no one really won anything because they were busy laughing and sharing (jokes I presume.)

Also on Friday about 24 of us got on a bus at the hotel and we went wine tasting.  This was arranged by Janet Dalrymple Owen and it was great.  We visited three wineries, Ruby Hill, Fenestra, and Wente.  Each winery had a different focus and all had good wine to taste.  It was casual and we got a chance to reacquaint ourselves with our classmates before the dinner on Saturday.

Some also got together for dinner at Tommy T's Comedy Club.  They reported a good time and afterwards, they  joined us at the bar in the FAZ Restaurant until closing.

On Saturday morning we met at the high school.  I was assuming they would let us wander the hallways, but four wonderful students from SLHS' s Interact Club (A Rotary Club for Students) led us around the school and showed us all the new improvements.  We met outside the cafeteria and as we were heading out to start the tour I asked out loud, "Where is the Jolly Roger?"  One of the girls answered, "the Jolly Roger???"  We all got a good laugh and we had to share with her what the Jolly Roger was.  The school has grown and the students have access to new and wonderful buildings and interests.

The Saturday evening cocktail and dinner was the main event.  We had over 210 people and a few gate crashers.  We were also pleased to have Ms. Almira DePace, our girls PE teacher and daughter Janet attend as well as Mr. Cas Munoz, the boys baseball coach and his wife Barbara.  What a treat.  They lovingly remembered quite a few of us.  Our "Blues Brothers", Gary Medeiros and Harold Lewis, set up a music system with a mike but the guys who set up the dance floor managed to break off the wireless part of the mike so it didn't work.   Our music played at various times and if we had had more time I am sure some of you would still be dancing.  I think everyone had a wonderful time visiting and catching up.  The food was great and the time was short.  A few of us managed to head to the bar to close it down.

Sunday morning found us at the restaurant for brunch and a final goodbye.  After working on the reunion plans for a year it is always sad to see it end so quickly.  There have been many details to figure out, money to collect, bills to pay and a few smiles along the way.  I have personally enjoyed them all...50 years.  It doesn't seem possible.  I would like to thank the committee for the plaque and bed and breakfast in my future.  I have asked them many times not to acknowledge me as we are a committee and work together.  At least this time I got to present them with something too...a memory box with lots of pictures and memories from the past reunions.  I would also like to thank Morgan Edwards and Janet McLaughlin-Williams for their acknowledgement for the committee with flowers and a huge bouquet.  I think we all feel the love and thoroughly enjoyed all the hugs.

Since we are not done and will continue to meet every year the 2nd full weekend in October, I do look forward to more hugs.  You can see the itinerary for the future reunions in this site. It is too hard to plan big future reunions due to our aging and health issues.  The hotels always need deposits, etc.  With you making your own arrangements and no deposits required, every year reunions hopefully will be the answer.

We are also working on the photo website at Shutterfly.  We thought you could upload your photos but at the moment can only see the ones Gary Bosley has uploaded.  We will let you know very soon how to add to the site.  Until then visit http://slhs62.shutterfly.com.

Until next time, please keep in touch and update any changes in your life, including address changes or email changes, etc.  You pirates are big softies and I love you all.  Take care of yourselves, win some lotteries and we will meet again.
