56th REUNION PacificGrove
Pirates gathered in my favorite location around Monterey, Carmel area. Asilomar is a conference type accommodation. People gather for weddings, business conferences, personal get-togethers, etc. There are many buildings scattered across the compound and each building holds a number of rooms on two or three floors. These buildings are scattered amongst the trees and across the road from the Pacific Ocean.
Meeting up is always fun the first day. Several of us gathered outside the common building in deck chairs and got reacquainted. Roger and I have an anniversary on October 4th so we announced that we wanted to have dinner at the Mission Inn in Carmel. We invited anyone who wanted to join us, and everyone did. It was good food and good company.
The next day talking around breakfast, some wanted to go shopping in Carmel and others wanted to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Roger and I hadn’t been to the Aquarium in some time so that is where we went with a few others. It is pretty spectacular. It sits right at the end of Cannery Row so there were many things to see. When we returned, it was great to take a little walk to the beach, right across from Highway 1. My favorite way to spend a few hours.
Dinner that last night was at the Fish Wife, which is right near Asilomar. Really great food. I have been back since and they do have the best Clam Chowder I have ever tasted. They had a cookbook at one time but it isn’t around anymore. If anyone can find a copy, I am interested! Until next time in Grass Valley, stay well and keep having fun.
