62nd REUNION Angels Camp

62nd REUNION ANGELS CAMP

On October 9 and 10, 2024 we ventured to Angels Camp, California.  It is a historic city because of Mark Twain's Jumping Frog.  There is a real frog jumping there every year.  I wanted to go there because the town seemed like it would be a fun place to visit.  The Hotel people were very helpful and very friendly. All in all I wasn't expecting a huge crowd because of all the health issues I was hearing about but we managed to get a good group and some were only going to make it for one day so a few different both days.  There was a Pizza place within a block of the hotel that came highly recommended so that is where we went.  The pizza was good and we had a great visit there and back at the hotel too.  I wanted to visit the historic town and was a bit disappointed as there were only three stores that I wanted to visit.  The rest of the town was empty and I didn't see any signs of Angels Camp trying to fill all those empty buildings.  So sad.

The second night we went in groups to a restaurant called Camps at a nice golf course. We had a nice dinner and a good visit.  We want to thank Gregg and Tina Welsh for their treat to dinner.  I really can't find the right words but know that I love you both.  Tina also is an author and she brought her box of books called, "Hanging on Jefferson's Nose" and autographed each copy for those that wanted one.  So generous these two! Tina is an artist and you can see her work at:  artoftina.com

One day here in a book store in Fremont I found a game and immediately had to buy it.  It was called San Leandro Opoly.  Yes it resembeld Monopoly but was a bit different.  It had San Leandro High School as one of the spots on the board.  Well after I laughed a lot, I had to have it.  At the reunion I showed it to everyone and if they wanted to own it they had to write their name on a paper and put that in a bag for a drawing.  The next evening after dinner I asked the hotel receptionist to draw the name. Judy Gillio Huckaby won and now owns the San Leandro Opoly!  I have started to look for it as it is sold in Walgreens.  The other day I found one for Fremont so pretty soon they will be available.  A worker at the San Leandro Walgreens said they had a huge display and were sold out fast last year. I will let you know if I see them.

Well, enough of my ramblings.  Please take care and keep smiling.  We are the mighty mighty pirates after all.
